1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can recognise your browser on the next page or the next visit. We also use similar browser storage for a few of the same purposes.

Cookies set by this site are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by a service we embed — Google's, for example — are third-party cookies.

2. The banner and your choice

The first time you visit, a banner asks you to accept or reject cookies. Your answer is stored in a cookie called cookie-consent — for a year if you accept, for 30 days if you reject — so we do not have to ask again on every page.

The cookies that make the site work, such as remembering your currency or your saved properties, are set because you use those features. You can clear all of them at any time in your browser settings.

3. Cookies we set

  • cookie-consent — Remembers your answer to the cookie banner — How long: 1 year (30 days if rejected)
  • currency — The currency prices are displayed in — How long: 1 year
  • property-listing-viewtype — Grid or list view on search results — How long: 1 year
  • property-listing-sortby — Your chosen sort order on search results — How long: 1 year
  • user-favorite-property-* — The properties you saved to favourites, per language — How long: 1 year
  • user-favorite-rental-* — The rentals you saved to favourites, per language — How long: 1 year
  • phone-country — The country code you last used in a phone field — How long: 1 year
  • sale-agent-phone — Which consultant's phone number to show you — How long: 1 year
  • authjs.session-token, authjs.csrf-token, authjs.callback-url — Keep you signed in and protect the sign-in forms — How long: Session, up to 30 days
  • NEXT_LOCALE — The language edition you chose — How long: 1 year

Names ending in * are stored once per language edition of the site.

4. Third-party cookies

  • Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads — measure how the site is used and how well our advertising works. These are set once you accept cookies.
  • Live chat — keeps your conversation open as you move between pages.
  • Google reCAPTCHA — protects our forms from automated spam, and sets its own cookies when it runs.
  • Maps and embedded video — map tiles and video players may set cookies or read your IP address when a page containing them loads.

These services are controlled by their providers, and their own privacy and cookie notices apply.

5. Managing cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has stored, delete them, and block new ones — usually under Settings → Privacy. Blocking all cookies will stop parts of this site from working: the site will forget your currency, your language and your saved properties, and you will not be able to stay signed in.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's browser add-on.

6. Changes to this policy

We update this list when we add or remove a tool. The date at the top of the page tells you when it last changed.
