Samui has everything a remote worker wants: fibre broadband in most areas, co-working spaces around Chaweng and Fisherman's Village, a year-round tropical climate, and living costs far below what you'd pay in a European city.
Where to base yourself
Bang Rak and Maenam offer calm sea views and easy access to the airport. Lamai is livelier; the south coast is quieter and cheaper. For villa buyers, the northwest — around Bang Por — delivers sunset views and privacy.
Rent vs buy
If you're here six months or more, buying a villa often makes sense: mortgage-equivalent costs, full ownership of your space, and an asset that earns rental income while you're away.
The island is building a reputation. Prices are still behind Phuket's — which makes it one of the smarter long-term bets we know.
